High Jump World Champion and HK Record Holder meet with Our High Jump Team Members

Mutaz Barshim, aged 26, is a Qatari high jumping world champion. He is a revered athlete who holds many titles. These include:

- Male World Athlete of the Year 2017 according to The International Association of Athletics Federations 

- holder of the Asian record 

- his 2.43m jump in 2014 was registered as the second-highest jump in history. 


Mutaz was invited to HWC by Ms Kwok Sai Ming, The head of PE at HWC. She also has been a representative of Hong Kong in high jump international competitions. Mutaz shared his experience and coached our field athletes at the school on 19th October, 2017. The second half of the session was a talk conducted by another guest of honour, Cheung Yu Ho, the current holder of  the Hong Kong high jump record. He focused on various high jump techniques, and he also gave individual coaching to our high jump athletes to improve their performances.
